What is Human-in-the-Loop?

Human-in-the-loop is a design approach where AI handles the volume but a person reviews or approves the decisions that matter. The agent drafts, routes, and acts within set bounds; anything sensitive — a refund, a legal question, an unhappy customer — is escalated to a human with full context. It's how you get speed without giving up judgment.
